About Us

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity (AIP) is the long term training wing of
the National Productivity Council(NPC), organized under Ministry of Industry,
Government of India. It is situated in an industrial environment in the
Industrial Estate of Small Industry Development Corporation (SIDCO) of
Tamil Nadu, Ambattur, Chennai (Madras). It has been created with the
primary purpose of preparing consultants in managerial and technical areas
to cater to the needs of NPC. It also trains self-sponsored and company-sponsored
participants into consultants who may function from NPC and other consultancy
organizations, as freelancers or employed as "internal consultants" in industrial
and other organisations.

 

The Institute originated in 1963 as a long term Industrial Engineering training cell named as Training Institute for Productivity and Industrial Engineering (TIPIE). It has now been renamed Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity (AIP) to play a wider role of running 2-year postgraduate diploma programmes in managerial and technical thrust areas for productivity improvement identified by NPC.

 

The institute is offering One-Year correspondence course National Certificate in Supervision for Junior Executives, Supervisors, Technicians, Office Personnel and workers from industries and service providing organizations.

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under Ministry of Power, Government of India has empowered the institute to conduct the National Level Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Auditors under the aegis of Bureau.
